Walsall manager Dean Smith could hand a debut to Jason Price at home to fellow strugglers Bristol Rovers.

The experienced striker has joined the Saddlers on a month's loan from Carlisle and may be pitched straight in for League One's bottom side.

Richard Taundry and Manny Smith will be assessed before Smith names his squad.

Midfielder Taundry, who recently returned from an ankle injury, and centre-back Smith both missed Tuesday`s 1-1 draw with Oldham having picked up knocks during training on Monday.

Striker Darren Byfield had hoped to return this month after a long-term ankle injury but is set to miss out again.

Bristol Rovers manager Dave Penney could hand Rene Howe his debut.

Howe has signed a one-month loan deal from Peterborough and is in contention to make his debut.

However, Penney is without Danny Coles and Chris Lines.

Defender Coles serves the third game of his four-match suspension following his sending-off against Carlisle while midfielder Lines collected his 10th booking of the season last week and is also banned.

Goalkeeper Luke Daniels and defender Dave McCracken have impressed since being given their chances in the starting line-up and are set to continue as the Pirates look to extend their unbeaten run to three games.

Young midfielder Charlie Clough has joined Weymouth on a month's loan.
