Liverpool target Ricky van Wolfswinkel is being touted for a possible deadline day switch.
The Dutch starlet suffered a serious shoulder injury, ironically against Liverpool in the Europa League, just over a month ago but is close to full fitness again now.
FC Utrecht's hitman has scored 17 goals in his last 24 appearances, and his fantastic Eredivisie form was the reason for such strong interest from the Barclays Premier League.
Liverpool are thought to face competition from Newcastle and Spurs for the player's signature, although agent Louis Laros has encouraged the Anfield outfit to make a bid in recent comments to Sport.co.uk.
"I think they are looking to get two players in. At the moment neither me, or the club (FC Utrecht) are in negotiations with Liverpool,” Laros told the website.
"The last day of the transfer period is when most of the deals are completed. If Liverpool come in for Ricky, of course, we will talk and think about it."
Liverpool agreed a fee with Ajax to sign Uruguayan international striker Luis Suarez, but a move for Van Wolfswinkel would add strength-in-depth in the attacking position for the Merseysiders.
“Liverpool is a huge club, and he is hopeful for them. If they come we will think about it. But first they must talk to the club."
Damien Comolli, director of football strategy at Anfield, is thought to have highlighted the player as a potential star of the future, and the Holland international could also be an option should Fernando Torres leave Liverpool in the final days of the transfer window.
NESV have already shown their willingness to invest in the club though, and creating a three-pronged attack with the inclusion of Van Wolfswinkel could make Liverpool a team to be feared again.
