Manchester United have won the £20million scramble for the signature of Sunderland midfielder Jordan Henderson, say the Daily Express.

The 20-year-old earned his first senior cap in November’s defeat to France at Wembley and has impressed during league performances for the north-east club.

They also report that United could offer Michael Carrick as part of the deal but it is believed that Bruce would prefer Ferguson to allow him to keep on-loan Danny Welbeck.

However, Ferguson is hoping that Welbeck will be a starting striker for United in the long-term and he would be reluctant to let go of the England under 21 international.
