Everton star Diniyar Bilyaletdinov is the subject of a last-ditch deadline day swoop for Sven Goran Eriksson and Leicester City reports The Sun.
The 25-year-old Russian international has enjoyed limited success since his multi-million-pound move to Goodison Park from Lokomotiv Moscow, and has started only two games for the Toffees since the turn of the year.
Eriksson has already successfully raided Everton when the Foxes launched an audacious bid to bring Yakubu to the Walkers stadium, convincing the Nigerian international to drop a division in order to rediscover the form that prompted David Moyes and Everton chairman Bill Kenwright to part with £11.25million in 2007.
And the former England manager is hoping that he can use Yakubu as a bargaining tool to convince Bilyaletdinov to follow his former teammate into the Npower Championship on a similar loan deal to the end of the season as the Swede looks to mastermind the Foxes push for promotion back to the Barclays Premier League.
Speaking to the Liverpool Echo earlier in the month, ‘Bily’ as he is known to Everton fans remained upbeat and said he would patiently wait for his chance after being largely reduced to the role of bench-warmer this season.
“I try to stay positive because it’s my life and it’s my career. I have to be positive.
“Of course if you don’t play a lot you start to think maybe there is something wrong. But that only lasts a few seconds. I don’t think about bad things, I just think about the future.”
That short-term future could lie away from Goodison Park, and Bilyaletdinov may consider dropping down to the Championship in order to gain some much needed first team action with Leicester City and would be seen as another major coup for the midlands club.
