Ladies and gentleman, Philippe Coutinho is back in business.

After enduring a torrid 18 months at Barcelona, leaving Camp Nou seemed to be an absolute no-brainer and Bayern Munich looked to be the perfect fit for the Brazilian.

Even his former manager at Liverpool Jurgen Klopp thought was the case, telling SportBild: "He's a world class player and a really good signing for Bayern - and the Bundesliga.

"I personally told him that Bayern and him would be a good fit. The arrival of the Brazilian isn't good news for Dortmund because it adds yet more talent to a direct rival."

And lo and behold, it seems as though Klopp was correct because Coutinho has made a flying start at the Allianz Arena.

The Brazilian impressed during pre-season friendlies and was considered by some media outlets to be the Man of the Match upon his first start against Red Star Belgrade.

Coutinho was also unlucky not to mark the occasion with his first goal in red, having seen his sweet back-heel strike ruled out during the first half.

However, there were to be no such hiccups during the Bundesliga clash with FC Koln, where the midfielder put on an absolute clinic.

During the opening 45 minutes, the 27-year-old played a key role in Robert Lewandowski's opening goal and saw one of his brilliant free-kicks ping off the post.

But his opening goal for Bayern finally arrived on 62 minutes as Lewandowski, despite being on a hat-trick, showed his class by allowing Coutinho to take it.

He made absolutely no mistake, yet was forced to re-take the spot kick because of encroachment and kept his cool to find the net all over again.

Sure, it wasn't a Coutinho special that will live long in the memory, but just reward for a superb performance and a goal that could open the floodgates for him in Bavaria.

During the first half alone, Coutinho created one major opportunity, delivered three key passes, won five duels, hit the woodwork and had the highest match rating at 7.5.

It's looking as though we could be seeing the best of Coutinho again...
