Arsenal have reportedly sent scouts to watch Spanish stopper Diego Lopez.

The Villarreal goalkeeper has been in fine form for the La Liga outfit this season, and sources in Spain claim Arsenal have been monitoring the player's progress over the last two months.

Spurs and Manchester United have also been linked with a move in the past, according to SkySports, but it's the Gunners who are showing the most interest in the player at the present time.

Arsene Wenger was linked with a string of goalkeepers in the January transfer window, and is still thought to be unsure over the long-term number one position at Arsenal.

Lopez is aware of the interest coming from the Gunners, but insists he's happy with the Yellow Submarine.

"I am tired of the rumours. My present and future is Villarreal," said Lopez.

Shay Given, Alan McGregor and Hugo Lloris have all been linked with an Emirates switch in the past, but it appears the Arsenal chief has switched his sights to the 29-year-old former Real Madrid starlet.

Brought to EL Madrigal for €6 million back in 2007, it's unknown if the keeper would be interested in leaving his homeland should Arsenal make a bid in an effort to bring the player to north London.
