Liverpool midfielder target Blaise Matuidi is being courted by a number of clubs, according to reports.

The French international has been earning rave reviews for his performances in Ligue 1 this season, with Liverpool amongst the clubs linked with a January move for the player.

Damien Comolli, director of football startegy at Anfield, is a known admirer of the player from his time spent at St Etienne, and is believed to be behind the pursuit of the player from Liverpool.

Juventus, Schalke, Rome and Fiorentina are also thought to be interested in the player, according to talkSPORT, and a summer bidding war could ensue for Matuidi's signature.

It's thought that the French outfit value the defensive midfielder in the region of €10 million, a fee that Liverpool are more than capable of meeting following the investment of the new owners.

NESV have already shown that they will back Kenny Dalglish financially in the transfer market, and Matuidi appears to be one of the top Liverpool targets.
