Southend midfielder Anthony Grant is a major doubt for the clash with Barnet.

The former Chelsea trainee was stretchered off with concussion during Saturday's 1-1 draw at Torquay after taking a kick to the head.

Lee Sawyer came on for Grant and would be his obvious replacement in the starting line-up.

Striker Harry Crawford is set to be ruled out again with an ankle injury while defender Mark Phillips will be checked over after missing out at the weekend with a knock.

Bilel Mohsni is a long-term absentee with an ankle problem so fellow centre-half Luke Prosser, who has just returned from his loan spell with Rushden & Diamonds, will be on the bench again.

Barnet boss Paul Fairclough is set to name an unchanged side for the trip.

On-loan Southampton midfielder Anthony Pulis serves the second game of his three-match ban so Fairclough is likely to stick with the line-up which drew 1-1 at Cheltenham on Saturday.

Steve Kabba played as the lone striker in front of Mark Marshall and Oxford loanee Sam Deering, with Izale McLeod starting on the bench.

Fairclough has no new injury concerns but defensive duo Daniel Leach and Darren Dennehy are still missing with foot injuries and forward Ricky Holmes is out for the season with a broken metatarsal.

The Bees remain on the foot of the table but are just two points from safety.
