Hargreaves to leave United?

Manchester United’s Owen Hargreaves is on the verge of leaving Old Trafford after the club decided against offering him a new contract, report UK.

The 30-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season and after playing just six minutes of football since September 2008, United have chosen to allow Hargreaves to leave on a free.

Since his £18 million move from Bayern Munich in 2007, Hargreaves’ career at United has been dominated by long spells on the sidelines, making just 39 appearances during his four year spell at the club.

His latest comeback, against Wolves in November, lasted just five minutes as he picked up a hamstring injury and since, no indication has been given that the midfielder will return to action in the near future.

MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps have previously been linked with the Canadian-born England international.
