Wayne Rooney will forever be remembered as one of the greatest players to ever kick a football. The striker's time with Manchester United was the stuff of legend, with Rooney scoring 208 goals and recording 103 assists in the Premier League alone. His stunning output helped secure five Premier League titles and one Champions League trophy for Sir Alex Ferguson's United.Rooney was one of the very few strikers that could do it all and during his prime he was undisputedly one of the best in the world. His partnerships with Ruud van Nistelrooy, Cristiano Ronaldo, Carlos Tevez and Robin van Persie were virtually cheat codes.

And to celebrate the achievements of United's record goal scorer, Twitter user @Rooney_esque has compiled all the good bits from Rooney's Red Devils career into one nine-minute video.

So sit back, relax and enjoy a true artist go about his work.

United Zone tweeted out the video with a very appropriate caption of: "Kids today never experienced the real Wayne Rooney."

One fan replied: "The best player on the planet for a few years in his prime."

Another quipped: "I'm crying because I was there to experience those beautiful moments. Kids will not understand."

It really is a crying shame that Rooney's final few years at United rather petered out.

Playing at such a high level from 16 had taken its toll and it was evident for a number of years after Ferguson's departure that Rooney and United's relationship was nearing its conclusion.

ANALYSIS

GiveMeSport's Danny Ryan says:

Rooney's reputation among Premier League fans has actually been soured by the relentless overhyping he received from the media during his career.

He wasn't a Cristiano Ronaldo or a Lionel Messi, but he was often portrayed by the English press as a combination of the both.

If he didn't score a hat-trick in a game or flattered to deceive in an England shirt, he was automatically labelled as 'overrated'.

How wrong everyone was, because the man was the definition of class out on the pitch for United.

Some will say; but he asked to leave United several times? He did, but let's not forget how close Steven Gerrard was to leaving Liverpool for Chelsea.

Kids these days may never understand how good Rooney was watching him trudge around in a Derby shirt, but those who saw him in prime will always know.
