Everton down Magpies

Published Add your comment

Phil Jagielka's first goal of the season was enough to hand Everton a 2-1 victory at Newcastle as the visitors came from behind to claim all three points.

Leon Best had given the Magpies a 23rd-minute lead with his sixth goal of the season, but Leon Osman struck eight minutes later to drag the Toffees back into the game.

But it was left to Jagielka to win it when he turned home Leighton Baines' 36th-minute free-kick.
