Out-of-favour Barcelona winger Jeffren Suarez is being linked with a £6million summer move to Liverpool according to caughtoffside.com.
The 23-year-old midfielder has struggled to break into Pep Guardiola’s first-team and is rumoured to be considering his options in his search for more regular football, and would reportedly welcome a move to Anfield.
Liverpool Director of Football Strategy Damien Comolli has developed strong ties with the Catalan giants having previously orchestrated the deal that saw Giovanni Dos Santos move from the Nou Camp to Tottenham Hotspur when he was posted as chief scout at White Hart Lane.
Comolli is now looking to capitalise on that relationship in a bid to bring another hot prospect to England but this time the destination will be Liverpool.
Having been previously linked with a number of other Barca stars – namely Bojan and Ibrahim Afellay, Suarez could prove to be a more realistic option for the Reds as Kenny Dalglish looks to continue strengthening his attacking options at Anfield.
Suarez has made only seventeen La Liga appearances since his debut in November 2006, which highlights the fact he has never been more than a bit-part player at Barcelona.
Liverpool fans will be hoping that the highly-rated Spaniard will prove to be as big a success as his namesake Luis who has shown great potential since his January move to Anfield – not least in yesterday’s impressive 3-1 victory over Manchester United.
The Reds could do with another natural winger after Joe Cole, Maxi Rodriguez and Milan Jovanovic have all failed to make the position their own.
Dirk Kuyt has been frequently deployed out wide, but after scoring a hat-trick from a more central role in yesterday’s win, Dalglish may well look to Jeffren Suarez as a potential successor in Liverpool’s midfield wide-berth.
