Leeds United have signed Aston Villa midfielder Barry Bannan on loan until the end of the season.
The 21-year-old has long been coveted by the npower Championship side and will add valuable experienced to the United midfield with the Scottish international having turned out 21 times for Villa in the Barclays Premier League and Europa League.
Leeds manager Simon Grayson said: "Barry is a player we have been tracking for a while.
"He's had the opportunity to go to nearly every other team in the Championship so for him to come here makes it all the more pleasing.
"He's used to this division and he played a major part in Blackpool's run to get promoted last season so he has experience and he fits the bill perfectly for us."
His 24 appearances for Blackpool last season culminated in that play-off final appearance from the bench against Cardiff City, experience that will be vital as The Whites look to preserve their spot in the npower Championship play-offs.
