The agent of reported Liverpool target Fernando Gago is not ruling out a potential summer exit for his client.
Gago enjoyed a fruitful first season with Real Madrid after joining Los Blancos from Boca Juniors for €20.4 million, but has since fallen down the pecking order at the Bernabeu.
The Argentina international has managed just seven appearances in La Liga this season and is unlikely to displace the likes of former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso or Sami Khedira any time soon.
It was initially reported by The People that Liverpool were monitoring the situation of the 24-year-old with a view to a summer bid but - while not condemning such reports - Gago's representative claimed they are currently just speculation.
"As for Gago, I can say that at the moment it is just speculation. I guess there is some interest," Zoran Vekic told Calciomercato.it.
"To be more precise, we must still wait for the next few weeks, when we will know his situation better."
Liverpool appear to have identified the acquisition of a holding midfielder as a summer priority and - along with Gago - have been linked with a number of potential recruits.
Rennes' Yann M'Vila and Ghanian Kwadwo Asamoah are both reportedly on the Liverpool radar, while France international Mamadou Sakho has also been mentioned regarding a potential move to Anfield.
