Brazilian striker Adriano has been linked with a move to Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotsphur after having his contract at Roma cancelled after seven months at the Italian giants.

The 29-year-old had joined Roma in the summer, but after just five appearances for the club his three-year deal was terminated.

Potential destinations for the Brazil international include St James's Park, where the Magpies are yet to fill the gap left by Andy Carroll's departure in the January transfer window, or Spurs who are sure to bolster their ranks with Roman Pavlyuchenko expected to leave White Hart Lane.

Adriano has scored 27 times in 48 appearances for Brazil, but has turned out only once for his country in the last 18 months.
