Inter Milan striker Goran Pandev could be on his way to England reports Goal.com.
The Serie A giants are planning a summer swoop for £50million rated Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luka Modric, but are unwilling to pay that amount, and so are prepared to offer Pandev as a makeweight in the proposed player-plus-cash deal.
The news will come as a shock to Liverpool who have also reportedly been monitoring the Macedonian international, with reports in Italy suggesting the Reds will launch a summer bid for the 27-year-old.
Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is keen to add to his attacking options at Anfield and has singled out Pandev as a value-for-money option since he fell out of favour at the San Siro with €10m the reported figure needed to secure his services.
Renowned for his creativity as opposed to his goal-scoring prowess, Pandev would provide Liverpool with an interesting alternative option up front, as well as bringing bags of experience that could be utilised by the Kop’s new strike partnership Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll.
However, if Inter continue in their pursuit for Spurs’ midfield magician Modric, Pandev could be pushed towards White Hart Lane as Harry Redknapp is also in the market for more striker additions in the summer.
Modric has a contract with Tottenham until the summer of 2016 so Redknapp will not be forced to part with the Nerazzurri transfer target.
Spurs’ officials may look to strike an entirely separate deal that could still see Pandev move to White Hart Lane.
But in the likelihood that Inter’s Modric enquiry is thwarted, it could pave the way for Liverpool to move for their man when the transfer window reopens in June.
