Liverpool's hopes of signing Ajax's Christian Eriksen have taken a blow after learning the midfielder only wants to join Barcelona.

The 19-year-old has earned rave reviews in the Eredivisie and The Reds registered their interest when assistant manager Sammy Lee to went to go watch the Dane.

But it appears that Eriksen has no interest in moving to England, and instead has his heart set on moving to another of Europe's big clubs.

He told Danish media: "If I got an offer from Liverpool right now, I believe I would reject it.

"Ajax is a good club for me at the moment and I believe it will be that for a couple of years.

"If I did move, it would have to be to FC Barcelona."
