Matt Tootle is likely to remain sidelined so Crewe boss Dario Gradi will select from an unchanged squad for the visit of league leaders Chesterfield.

Full-back Tootle has missed the last two matches due to a virus.

After returning to winning ways against Burton last weekend, Gradi named the same starting XI at Macclesfield in midweek. However, after a 1-0 defeat some changes could be in order.

Midfielders Joel Grant and Danny Shelley, along with forwards Ajay Leitch-Smith and Antoni Sarcevic are options for Gradi.

Shelley and Leitch-Smith enjoyed second-half run-outs at Moss Rose and, along with Sarcevic, scored for the reserve-team on Wednesday.

The sides contested an incredible match in the reverse fixture at the b2net Stadium in October as Chesterfield fought back from a 4-1 half-time deficit to draw 5-5.

Derek Niven is a doubt for Chesterfield.

The midfielder required five stitches in a head wound against Northampton on Tuesday night and had to be replaced by Kieran Djilali.

Boss John Sheridan has options should Niven be unavailable. Crystal Palace youngster Djilali could keep his place, although Dwayne Mattis is back in contention for a start after coming on for the final few moments against the Cobblers following a calf injury.

Dean Morgan was left out in midweek after two games in quick succession following two months out with an ankle injury and he could also come back into the reckoning, with veteran striker Jack Lester likely to be given his customary away match rest.
