Reported Manchester United target Vincent Enyeama has agreed to sign for Lille, it has emerged.
According to reports in Israel, the Hapoel Tel Aviv stopper will join the Ligue 1 leaders on a free transfer at the end of the season having already agreed personal terms.
The Sunday Tribune previously claimed that United were courting the 28-year-old Nigerian in their pursuit of a successor to Edwin van der Sar but it would now appear that they will have to turn their attentions to alternative targets.
Van der Sar has confirmed that he will retire at the end of the season and the acquisition of a new first choice 'keeper is a summer priority for United.
Danish stopper Anders Lindegaard moved to Old Trafford in January but is not expected to permanently fill the void left by Van der Sar so United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is firmly in the hunt for a new no.1 gloveman.
Ferguson always had a sense that Van der Sar would quit Old Trafford this at the end of the season - admitting as much upon the signing of Lindegaard.
“We haven’t finalised our thoughts on the goalkeeping situation," the United supremo said.
“Edwin has massive experience and you can’t buy that, so it’s a difficult one because he has been a great goalkeeper and will be hard to replace.”
Current United no.2 Tomasz Kuszczak has also been tipped to leave Old Trafford come the summer window, so the Red Devils are likely to be scouting a number of potential signings.
Schalke star Manuel Neuer is seemingly the favourite to join United in the closed season, while Dutchman Maarten Stekelenburg is also rumoured to be a target for the Old Trafford club.
