Manchester City are hunting Belgian under 21 international Yassine El Ghanassy for the summer transfer period, according to reports.
Ghanassy currently plays for Belgian side AA Gents, who sit third on the Jupiler League table. The winger had a trial with Birmingham City four years ago, and the Barclays Premier League side decided not to sign him at the time.
Now however, the exciting 20 year old is being chased by Villarreal and Belgian outfit Anderlecht, as well as an Italian side who are yet to be named, and Manchester City is said to be facing some competition to sign the striker.
City manager Roberto Mancini appears well up to compete for Ghanassy’s signature in the summer though, sending scouts to watch him on a few occasions.
It’s speculated that Mancini is interested in the Belgian because of his ability to play up front as well as a winger on either side.
Talksport.co.uk have valued Ghanassy at £4.3 million, a price which Manchester City will easily be able to afford when the transfer period opens.
It seems the Belgian might be returning to English football on a permanent basis come summer.
