Rennes winger Sylvain Marveaux is reportedly close to signing a pre-contract agreement with Liverpool.
The 24-year-old will leave the French club in the summer after opting to allow his contract to expire at the end of the season and has also reportedly been courted by Chelsea.
But, according to The People, Liverpool are ‘on the brink’ of concluding a deal with Marveaux in their pursuit of attacking reinforcements.
"I am very close to reaching agreement with Liverpool about joining them next season,” said the Frenchman – as quoted by The People.
Marveaux is currently sidelined for the remainder of the season and Rennes are already resigned to losing him in the summer after general manager Pierre Dreossi admitted it was highly unlikely the forward would play for the club again.
Liverpool are known to be keen to add extra width and penetration to their squad in the summer and Marveaux could provide just that should he make the switch to Anfield at the end of the season.
Hamburg’s Eljero Elia and Aston Villa star Ashley Young also reportedly remain on the Liverpool radar but it appears that Marveaux could be their first signing of what is sure to be a busy summer at Anfield.
