Bury missed the chance to close the gap to runaway npower League Two leaders Chesterfield as they went down to a thrilling 3-2 home defeat to Cheltenham this afternoon.
The away side were 2-0 up inside eight minutes with goals from Andrew Gallinagh and Josh Low, but a spirited fightback by Bury saw them pull one back immediately through Ben Futcher.
An equaliser came midway through the second half as Andy Haworth scored from the edge of the penalty area, but the visitors attacked straight from the restart and Josh Low converted his second of the game.
Wycombe and Shrewsbury - third and fourth respectively - played out a 1-1 draw. James Collins gave Shrewsbury the lead, but a header from the experienced Gareth Ainsworth earned the visitors a point.
The other two teams in the play-offs who were in action also shared the spoils, Gillingham drawing 1-1 at Burton and Torquay rescuing a point late on in a 3-3 draw with Macclesfield.
Port Vale failed to close in on a play-off place as they slipped to a 3-0 defeat to Accrington, first goal coming from Sean McConville in the first half before two strikes in the last five minutes from Ian Craney and Andrew Procter settled the game.
Stevenage boosted their play-off hopes with a hard fought 2-1 win at home to Lincoln. The visitors took the lead through a Ashley Grimes penalty after Scott Laird had been adjudged to have handled the ball. But a double from Lawrie Wilson turned the game around.
The two teams in the relegation zone both lost as Barnet were beaten 2-1 at home by Morecambe and basement boys Stockport lost 1-0 at Aldershot.
Elsewhere Oxford beat Crewe 2-1, Ajay Leitch-Smith scoring late on for the visitors after James Constable had netted twice for Oxford.
Bradford and Northampton drew 1-1, both goals coming from the penalty spot as Jake Speight gave the Bantams an early lead before Shaun Harrad levelled on the hour mark.
