England manager Fabio Capello believes Jack Wilshere is as good as any other young player in the world.

The 19-year-old's star has risen dramatically this season after a number of imperious displays for Arsenal have seen him make his mark on the England set up.

Capello has singled out the midfielder's performance in the first leg of Arsenal's Champions League last 16 loss to Barcelona as a breakthrough display, and does not believe there is anyone better in the game right now.

"Wilshere, after the game against Barcelona, he has arrived. You can understand the value of that sort of performance," said the Italian.

"As a young player, I think he is at the top, not only in England but Europe and the world."

When asked if Wilshere was ready to start for England alongside the likes of Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard, Capello added: "Yes, yes, because he is good, because he plays without fear, and with confidence.

"Also for someone so young, he is a leader. I never saw someone so young be a leader on the pitch. It is incredible."
