Yeovil have announced plans for a new 3,500-seat stand at Huish Park.

The proposed development at the currently substandard and under-utilised areas to the north end of the ground will increase the capacity from 9,665, of which 5,212 is seated.

A retail park has also been proposed as part of the development, which will bring in much needed revenue for the club. Glovers chairman John Fry told the club's official website: "We have entered this joint venture to ensure that Yeovil Town FC remains at the heart of our town and county."

He added: "By developing the area around Huish Park we have the opportunity to bring in much-needed investment to the club and the area.

"Without this investment there is a high chance that we won't meet the Football League's future demands for stadium improvements, which will mean that we may not be able to stay in the league."
