Leeds accept striker red

Leeds will not launch an appeal against the red card received by Billy Paynter in the 2-0 defeat at Sheffield United.

A statement from the club confirmed the Whites would not take any action after footage of the incident proved "inconclusive". Referee Michael Jones revealed in his match report that Paynter had been sent off for a head-butt that was seen by his assistant.

Paynter will now serve a three-match ban, missing the games against Nottingham Forest, Millwall and Derby. United boss Simon Grayson told the club's official website: "I'm disappointed that Billy will miss three games, but I'm confident in the players we have here."
