Torquay moved to within three points of the automatic qualification spots in npower League Two with a 2-1 win over Cheltenham.

Guy Branston headed in the opener after 28 minutes while Ronan Murray made sure 19 minutes from time.

His goal was needed as Danny Andrew got one back from Cheltenham in the 89th minute.

That puts Torquay fourth, just behind Wycombe and third place, though they have played a game more.

Stevenage are just one point behind after enjoying a 2-0 away win over Burton Albion. John Mousinho got both goals, a fourth-minute strike and an 87th minute penalty after Darren Murphy was brought down by John McGrath.

Managerless Port Vale needed a 90th minute header from Tom Pope to rescue a point in a 1-1 draw at home to Hereford, having trailed to a James McQuilkin strike. Youth team coach Mark Grew was in charge of Vale after Jim Gannon was sacked on Monday.

Accrington missed the chance to close a three-point gap to Vale in ninth as they were held to a 0-0 draw at Crewe.

Aldershot heaped misery on relegation-threatened Barnet with a 1-0 win, Danny Hylton getting the goal on the hour mark. Barnet played the final 12 minutes with 10 men after Matthew Parsons earned a second yellow card.

Macclesfield won 2-1 at Morecambe, getting goals from Hamza Bencherif and Tyrone Barnett before James Spencer got one back for the hosts.

Stewart Drummond was sent off for Macclesfield a minute from time for a second bookable offence.
