Barcelona’s sensational right back Dani Alves is re-signing with Spanish giants Barcelona for the next four years.
The deal all but closes the door on possible bids from Chelsea and Manchester City, who have been linked to the star on many occasions.
Alves is to put pen to paper and officially sign the deal on Wednesday, but an agreement has been made to prolong his contract until June 30, 2015, according to CNN.
"The negotiations were long but never tense and Alves' performances on the pitch have been as good as ever.” Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta told the club's official website.
“We have taken our time and we can finally announce that we have achieved the objective we set out to achieve.
"[Alves] plays with an intensity that has nothing to do with tactics but is more about spirit.
"He has everything. We have looked at the market and there is nobody like him, he is unique in his position."
Alves left Sevilla for Barcelona in 2008 for a reported sum of 29.5 million euros. Manchester City and Chelsea are both planning on multi million pound spending sprees this summer, and were thought to have Alves on their radar, with Roberto Mancini sending scouts to watch the Brazilian many times.
