Carroll Dalglish ‘partnership perfection’ - McDermott

Huddersfield assistant coach Terry McDermott worked with Liverpool’s £35 million man Andy Carroll at Newcastle, and knows that the striker will be something special given time to develop under Kenny Dalglish at Anfield.

"I honestly believe Liverpool have signed an absolute gem," McDermott told the official Liverpool website.

"Andy's got everything going for him - it's how badly he wants it, and he does. He could be England's No.9 for the next 10 years.”

McDermott coached with Dalglish at Newcastle in the 90s, and worked with Carroll at the Toon in 2005-2008 when he was in his teens. McDermott said the two working together will be the perfect partnership, with Carroll able to offer great skill and talent to the table, and Dalglish wisdom and experience.

"Kenny is the best striker there has ever been at Liverpool and if Andy can't learn from him, there's something wrong,” McDermott said.

"But he will because Kenny is very, very astute. He tells people what is expected of them and if they let him down, he will soon let them know. If you can't learn from Kenny, who else can you learn from?

"He can be anything he wants to be because he is that good."
