AC Milan defender Thiago Silva has revealed he is honoured to have been linked with a move to Manchester United.
The 26-year-old has seen his stock rise dramatically since joining Milan for €10 million from Fluminense in 2009 and continues to gather admirers in Serie A.
Speculation has been mounting in recent weeks that United are preparing a summer move for the Brazil international in their pursuit of defensive reinforcements.
Thiago has since admitted he is hugely flattered by the reported interest from United and has hinted that he may be willing to move to Old Trafford in the future.
“It's great to have my name linked with a club like Manchester United, which currently is one of the landmarks of European football,
"Without doubt, I am having a very good career and hope to continue progressing.
"But the moment I will not stop thinking about the Italian Championship, which has become an obsession for me."
Whether or not United do move for Thiago in the summer remains to be seen, but Sir Alex Ferguson is expected to invest heavily in his squad after a quiet January transfer window.
