Manchester City’s wayward striker Mario Balotelli is staying at City, manager Roberto Mancini told reporters.

"The problem is that it's written that the Rossoneri want him and that there's an agreement, it creates confusion and tension," Mancini told Italian newspaper Il Giorno.

"I personally don't mind, but it's unlikely that Manchester City will sell their good players.

"Mario was very unfortunate with his knee problems. But, if he wants, he's in a position to change himself in games, but it depends on him."

Balotelli has been out of favour with Mancini since he was red carded in Manchester City’s clash with Dynamo Kiev in the Europa League round of 16.

The Manchester City striker had been linked to offers from Italian clubs, with City reportedly happy to cut their losses and find a striker without as many personal issues.
