Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has hailed defender William Gallas as one of the signings of the summer after revealing the French defender is on the brink of agreeing a new deal with the North Londoners.
Gallas became the fifth player to make the direct switch from Arsenal to Tottenham last summer and after signing a one-year deal with the club has been offered a two-year extension to his deal.
The 33-year-old has played a decisive role in Spurs' back-four in the absence of Ledley King as the club have progressed to the last-eight of the Champions League.
A delighted Redknapp said: "The chairman's doing a deal.
"William fully deserves it, he has been top class. He's a nice man, a quiet man who just gets on with it.
"He could have gone abroad during the summer and made money, but the deal he did with us was an awful lot less than he was on at Arsenal.
"He has been one of the signings of the season. He has been magnificent for us and has played nearly all the games."
After securing the sought-after deal, the defender will now turn his attention to helping Spurs qualify for the Champions League for a second successive season, and plotting how he can stop Cristiano Ronaldo and co. in next month's Champions League semi-final.
