Chelsea confirm pre-contract agreement for samba star

Chelsea have officially announced the pre-contract signature of Brazilian starlet Lucas Piazon.

The Sao Paolo attacking midfielder has agreed to join the Blues on a pre-contract agreement, and is expected to join on a long-term deal in January 2012, according to the official Chelsea website. It is the same month the player will turn 18, and be eligible to sign professional forms with a club.

A Brazil U17 international who is currently representing his country in the South American championships, the teenager has scored twice in three appearances in the aforementioned tournament.

Juventus were also thought to be in the chase for the player, who is yet to make a senior appearance in football.


 

Dubbed 'the next Kaka' for his style of play and looks, the youngster will add to the growing ranks of Brazilians at Stamford Bridge alongside David Luiz, Alex and Ramires.
