Liverpool are favourites to land Real Madrid defensive midfielder Fernando Gago, according to reports in Spain.
The Argentine international has been heavily linked with an Anfield move in recent weeks, although the Daily Mirror now claims that Everton and Spurs are interested in bringing the player to the Barclays Premier League.
Having fallen out-of-favour at the Santiago Bernabeu under Jose Mourinho, the midfielder is one of seven players thought to be heading for an exit from the Spanish capital.
Reports from the iberian country claim the La Liga giants are searching for a fee in the region of £10 million for the player, and that Liverpool remain the favourites to land the player in the summer.
The 24-year-old would bring a wealth of experience despite his relatively young age, having graduated from the Boca Juniors academy and staring for club before joining Madrid in 2007 for €20.4 million. Gago also has 30 international caps to his name.
After a promising start to life in Spain, opportunities have been harder to come by of late and reports earlier in the season claimed the player would be considering a move in search of first team football.
Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish would hope to lure the player to the red half of Merseyside with an offer that involves playing time at Anfield, although both David Moyes and Harry Redknapp could consider similar deals.
Dalglish has hinted at a number of potential changes in personel this summer, with a defensive midfielder thought to be on the agenda for the Scot.
Christian Poulsen is widely expected to make an exit in the summer after failing to impress following his rival under the reign of Roy Hodgson, and Gago could fill the void for Liverpool come the end of the season should they move for the player.
