Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport has made the claim that Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has approached Michel Bastos as a possible replacement for Gareth Bale, with the Tottenham star possibly leaving White Hart Lane.
Bale signed a new contract with Tottenham this month, tying him to the club until 2015, however transfer rumours are still surrounding the star.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that Harry Redknapp believes demand will be too high for the winger for him to refuse a deal.
Spurs have reportedly made enquiries with Brazilian international Bastos, who plays left back for French outfit Lyon, in the hopes of securing a replacement for Bale early on.
While Redknapp is still holding out hope that Bale will stay at Tottenham, if Spurs don’t qualify for Champions League the manager knows he will face a dilemma, with top flight clubs offering Champions League games to Bale to sweeten the deal.
Manchester United, Manchester City, Inter Milan and Barcelona have all reportedly become aware of Tottenham looking for a replacement, and will be excited by the prospect of signing the 21 year old.
