Reported Tottenham target Mats Hummels would consider a summer move to the Barclays Premier League, it has been claimed.

The Borussia Dortmund defender has been one of the German club's star turns this season as they edge closer to the Bundesliga title.

Hummels has been in imperious form at the back for Dortmund, while also weighing in with six goals at the other end to further demonstrate his talents to potential suitors - one of whom is reported to be Tottenham.

According to talkSPORT, Spurs are firmly in the race for the 22-year-old and will be alerted to his potential availability after the German 'opened the door' to an eventual transfer to England.

"I'll only leave for Borussia for a top, top European club," he told Bild. "I do not care if it's in England, Italy or Spain. But now I want to be realistic and not waste my time dreaming."

However, whether or not Spurs represent the 'top, top European club' Hummels desires is open to debate, especially with Champions League football at White Hart Lane not guaranteed next season.

With Dortmund currently seven points clear at the top of the Bundesliga, Hummels is seemingly destined to play in Europe's premier competition with his current employers which is likely to further dent Tottenham's prospects in their alleged pursuit of his signature.
