Cork spends night in hospital

On-loan Burnley midfielder Jack Cork was taken to hospital after feeling unwell during England Under-21s' international friendly defeat to Iceland at Deepdale on Monday night.

The Chelsea youngster, 21, played the first 45 minutes of the 2-1 loss, but, after suffering palpitations, he was taken for precautionary medical checks and kept in overnight for observation with a suspected virus.

England under-21 coach Stuart Pearce said afterwards: "He had palpitations in the first half and said he wasn't feeling so well so we have taken him to hospital just for precautionary status.

"That's as far as I know at the moment but obviously our doctors will be in contact with the hospital."

Clarets team-mate Nathan Delfouneso had earlier put England ahead with a classy finish but the Icelanders went on to win with a header from Holmar Orn Eyjolfsson.

Cork has made 39 appearances in all competitions for the Clarets this season, scoring three goals.
