Aston Villa are looking to hijack Liverpool and Manchester United's bid for Blackpool winger Charlie Adam, reports the Daily Mail.
The Scottish international has been the shining light in Ian Holloway's side this season and was subject to bids from the Merseyside's and Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window.
However, reports suggest that Aston Villa are ready to join the race for the midfielder, ruining Liverpool and United's plans of signing Adam.
Both clubs came close to securing the midfielders signature in the last transfer window, with Liverpool having a bid rejected on deadline day, as The Tangerines decided to keep Adam to assist their battle against relegation.
Liverpool and United have made signing a winger their top priority this summer with Ashley Young, Javier Pastore and Eden Hazard all reportedly interesting the north-west duo.
A bid for Adam from Villa is reliant on the club staying in the Premier League and manager Gerard Houllier remaining at the club.
If, as expected, Ashley Young leaves the club for either Liverpool or United, Adam may prove to be the ideal replacement.
