Liverpool have reportedly made an initial move to secure the signing of Shakhtar Donetsk playmaker Willian.

The Brazilian is also an alleged target for Chelsea and Barcelona and a summer bidding war for the 22-year-old is seemingly set to ensue.

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool have already registered their interest in the £22 million-rated attacker and the Anfield are considering making a formal move when the transfer window reopens.

Liverpool scouts will also reportedly be dispatched to watch Willian at close quarters on Wednesday when Shakhtar take on Baca at the Nou Camp in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie.

The Daily Mail continues to report that the fleet-footed winger remains high on Liverpool's list of potential summer acquisitions in what is likely to be a busy transfer window at Anfield.

Liverpool have also been linked with Blackpool captain Charlie Adam and Manchester City winger Adam Johnson as they look to bring more potent goalscoring options to Anfield at the end of the season.
