Jonathan Forte is pushing to make his full Southampton debut when Charlton visit St Mary's.

The winger, a January signing from Scunthorpe, made his sixth appearance as a substitute against MK Dons on Saturday and scored twice to help Saints come from two goals down to win 3-2.

Manager Nigel Adkins could now hand Forte his first start, possibly in place of Brazilian forward Guly do Prado.

Teenage winger Alex Chamberlain is still sidelined with an ankle injury and French midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin misses out again with a knee problem.

Midfielder Oscar Gobern has completed the three-match ban he received for his red card at Bournemouth last month and should be added to the bench.

Charlton are hopeful Bradley Wright-Phillips will be fit for the trip.

The former Saints striker took his tally for the season to 21 with a goal in Saturday's 3-1 win over Leyton Orient but limped off late on with a slight ankle injury.

Fellow forward Paul Benson was also forced off in the closing stages but he was only suffering from cramp.

Winger Scott Wagstaff and goalkeeper Rob Elliott also picked up knocks but managed to play the full 90 minutes and should be fine.

Joe Anyinsah missed out at the weekend with an ankle problem and he will be checked over.

Johnnie Jackson is still out with an Achilles problem and Kelly Youga is sidelined with a knee injury.
