Newcastle United are plotting a move for Wigan Athletic forward Victor Moses to help bolster their attacking options, reports Setanta Sports.
Moses has been used sparingly since he joined Wigan last year, and with the Latics on the brink of relegation, the club may be forced to cull their squad.
With up to £35 million to spend this summer, Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is looking to improve his squad ahead of a second consecutive season in the Barclays Premier League.
And Moses may prove to be just the ticket for the St James's Park club, who may need to replace midfielder Joey Barton, who has long been linked with a move away from the club.
The 20-year-old signed from Crystal Palace for £2.5 million in last year's January transfer window but has scored just twice since his debut against Sunderland.
With money to spend, Pardew is expected to bring in a marque signing to help re-invigorate his side after the sale of Andy Carroll.
The likes of Edinson Cavani, Johan Elmander and Mladen Petric have all been linked with the club, but Moses, who has two-years left on his current deal, could well be available at a cut price if Roberto Martinez' side are relegated to the Npower Championship.
