The Lancashire Telegraph is reporting that Newcastle are targeting Venezuelan international forward Jose Salomon Rondon in a bid to replace the hole in the front line that Andy Carroll’s departure left behind.
Carroll went to Liverpool from Newcastle in January for a record £35 million transfer fee, and Newcastle have since promised fans they will be reinvesting Liverpool’s money into buying new players in the summer.
Rondon is 21 years old, a year younger than Carroll, and so far has scored 12 goals in 23 appearances for La Liga side Malaga.
Malaga are currently sitting second last on the La Liga table, and are favourites to be relegated. Should this be the case for the struggling side, Rondon will be set for an exit.
And with Andy Carroll’s money from the Liverpool signing to spend, Newcastle will surely be able to pay the £5 million which Talksport.co.uk has reported is Rondon’s asking price.
