Liverpool striker Andy Carroll says he's delighted to be getting back to full fitness as he hunts down his first goal for his new club.
The 21-year-old is yet to find the net for The Reds since his deadline day move from Newcastle United in January.
But after five appearances for the Anfield club Carroll believes his first goal is just around the corner.
“A goal for Liverpool is what I am waiting for now. It’s going to be great because the fans have given me a brilliant reception without scoring a goal, and now I can’t wait to get a goal and make everyone happy," he said.
“The reception I got before I even touched the ball was great and when I got on (against Manchester United for his debut last month), the reaction I got from the fans sounded like I’d already scored a goal.
“It’s great to be here. The lads are fantastic – I get on well with all of them, and the fans are great as well. I’m just getting myself back to fitness now, so it’s all good.”
Carroll scored his first England goal during last weeks draw with Ghana and his latest opportunity to notch his first Liverpool goal will come on Monday when Manchester City visit Merseyside.
