Celtic are chasing reported Liverpool target Jeffren Suarez, it has been claimed.
According to the Express, the Glasgow club have made official enquiries with Barcelona regarding the young winger in the hope to sign him on loan next season.
Metro had previously reported that Liverpool were one of the frontrunners for the 23-year-old, but now it appears they will have to fight off interest from Celtic if they hope to bring him to Anfield.
Whilst not naming Celtic or Liverpool specifically, a Barca official has confirmed there has been interest in Suarez from the UK.
"The technical staff will evaluate the situation between now and the end of the season" he said.
"We have received many calls about Suarez from Scotland, England, Italy and Holland but no decisions have yet been taken about him or other young players ."
The Spaniard allegedly has a buyout clause of £8.3 million written into his contract and - while Celtic would rather a temporary deal for the attacker - Liverpool are said to be prepared to meet the valuation.
Liverpool have also been linked with Aston Villa's Ashley Young and Wolves star Matt Jarvis in their pursuit of more potent wide options.
