Star midfielder Michael Essien is not planning on leaving Chelsea, contrary to speculation of offers from other clubs.
Essien’s agent, Fabien Piveteu, told Goal.com: “He has spoken to the [Chelsea] chairman.
“He will stay at Chelsea next season, the club want him to stay and he will be there for the next four seasons."
Reports were speculating that Essien was unhappy at Chelsea and considering a move to either Manchester City or to go for a complete change and move to the Serie A. But Pivetau argues that despite Essien being aware of possible offers, the Ghana international won’t be leaving Stamford Bridge any time soon.
“Lots of clubs are interested in Michael but the answer is the same – he is very happy at Chelsea," Piveteu said.
“Everything is fine and everybody is happy about Michael’s situation.
“Now he is looking forward to the future.”
Essien has been a star for Chelsea and an integral part of the squad since he signed for £24.4 million in 2005. Earning the nickname ‘the Bison’ for his powerful nature and intimidation of opposition, Chelsea would be hard pressed to consider letting their African star go at any price.
