Clarets' Duffy returns home

Rookie Everton defender Shane Duffy has returned to Goodison Park following the end of his 28-day loan spell at Burnley.

The 19-year-old defender made just one appearance for the Clarets but boss Eddie Howe has not ruled out renewing his interest in the young Irishman ahead of next season.

Howe said: "As I said when we took him, part of the reason was to look long-term with Shane. We will wait and see how pre-season goes for him and what his options are and how Everton feel."

He added: "But he's done himself no harm. He goes back with our best wishes."
