Huddersfield left-back Liam Ridehalgh has signed a two-year contract extension which keeps him at the Galpharm Stadium until the summer of 2013.

Ridehalgh, who has celebrated his 20th birthday by putting pen to paper, is a product of Town's Academy and signed his first professional deal in 2009 before penning another one-year contract last summer, but his impressive displays this term have been rewarded with a two-year agreement, despite sustaining a broken foot earlier this month.

Ridehalgh told Huddersfield's official website: "It was an easy decision for me. It's a great club to be at and it's been fantastic to be part of a promotion push this season."

He added: "This is where I want to be, not only for the next two seasons but after that as well."

Manager Lee Clark added: "Liam fully deserves his new deal at the club, he has played a part in a lot of important wins for us this season and has done very well to start as many games as he has.

"It is up to him to try and kick on further now, but he has a fantastic work ethic and that will go a long way towards helping him improve.

"He's a whole-hearted player - the type you would want alongside you in the trenches."
