Chelsea hero Florent Malouda scored twice last night, as he vowed to defend the title and win every game in the run in to the end of the season.
“I would say we are still the champions, and we have to defend our title so until the last moment, we will still defend it,” Malouda said before the game.
“We have no choice but to win every game and put [title leaders] under pressure and hope that they drop points.
“We have to look to pass Arsenal, to be on top of Arsenal and then you never know.”
Malouda stayed true to his word of defending that Chelsea title last night, scoring in the 3rd and 62nd for Chelsea as they defeated Birmingham 3-1. But Malouda isn’t stopping there, and looking ahead to Chelsea’s do or die face off with Manchester United, the midfielder believes winning every game is a must.
“We’re going to play against man u at old Trafford, until then we must get all the points,” Malouda said.
Chelsea are currently second on the Barclays Premier League table, after moving past Arsenal on goal difference as Malouda aimed to do last night. With six points separating the Blues from Manchester United, should Chelsea win the match against their title rivals, they can close the gap to just one game.
And with Manchester united facing the tough task of playing away to Arsenal – United’s away record is particularly poor this season – the comeback which seemed impossible over Christmas could become possible for Chelsea.
