Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has hailed his side's Copa Del Rey win over Barcelona and says his side are confident they can overcome the Catalan side when the duo collide in the Champions League semi-finals.

Cristiano Ronaldo's extra-time header gifted madrid victory after a string of Iker Casillas saves kept Mourinho's side in the contest after Barca dominated the second half.

The final was the second of four matches between the two La Liga giants in the space of 17 days, with the final two games in the Champions League semi-finals, matches Madrid's Portuguese manager believes they can now win.

"I am thrilled to win the Copa del Rey - it is something special," he said.

"It's a fantastic triumph against a great team like Barcelona - and we deserved it."

"We can take them on over two games; we have just done that," added Mourinho.

"There is no reason we can't beat them in the Champions League because we have just drawn once against them and then beaten them."

The first of this semi-finals takes place at the Bernabeu next Wednesday, with the return fixture the following Tuesday at the Nou Camp.
