Aston Villa striker Darren Bent repaid another slice of the faith shown in him by absent manager Gerard Houllier to rescue a point in a 1-1 draw against Stoke at Villa Park.

Houllier, who is recovering from chest pains in hospital, paid Sunderland £18 million for Bent in January and he scored his seventh goal in 12 games for Villa.

That cancelled out the opening goal from another ex-Black Cats forward in Stoke's Kenwyne Jones.
