Reported Liverpool target Pape Diakhate is on the radar of several other clubs, it has been claimed.
The 26-year-old defender is currently on loan at Lyon from Dynamo Kiev and the former are said to be keen to secure a permanent deal when the transfer window opens.
According to tribalfootball.com, Aston Villa are also chasing the Senegal international, while he is also a ‘favourite’ of Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli.
Prior to taking up his role at Anfield, Comolli was in charge of transfer dealings at Saint-Etienne, where Diakhate spent a spell on loan last season.
Comolli was said to have been impressed with Diakhate during his four month spell at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard and, although the Liverpool supremo failed to keep the centre-back with Les Verts, he is alleged to have been monitoring the progress of his former charge since moving to Anfield.
Although he favours a role in the centre of defence, Diakhate can also operate on the left side and would provide Liverpool with a versatile option should Comolli opt to formalise his interest.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are known to have indentified the acquisition of a natural left-back as a summer priority and Newcastle’s Jose Enrique is the favourite to make the switch to Anfield at the end of the season.
